Research

My applied linguistics research on foreign language pedagogy, has mostly focused on using drama and performative activities as a way to include the arts, improve grammar, pronunciation and most recently self-confidence of students studying Spanish as a foreign language. In my research I continue to move beyond mere anecdotal evidence and combine quantitative and qualitative research methods to access both the subjective and objective outcomes of the experimental treatments. My research is unique in its depth and breadth of statistical analyses, while not losing sight of the multi-layered challenge of studying art forms such as teaching and theater. My goal is to continue using a mixed-methods approach to analyze different questions that arise in the actual foreign language classroom as opposed to a laboratory.
